World première of Τάρταρος IV for digitally processed sounds and video (2012) took place on 19 April 2012, during the Festival of Polish Music at the Philharmonic Hall in Kielce, Poland, as part of an all-Canadian multimedia performance.
The work constitutes the final link in the Τάρταρος tetralogy. In Greek mythology Tártaros is the lowest level of the Underworld, below Heaven, Earth, even Hades. This is a place where the punishment for sins is the worst, most unforgiving, and enduring. There is no escape, only suffering. Quite aggressive throughout, the music conveys this sultry and oppressed atmosphere.
